사우디-요르단간 SMR 건설 위한 타당성조사 협력 양해각서 체결
사우디와 요르단 양국 정부는 우라늄 개발과 요르단에 2기의 SMR 건설을 위한 타당성조사에 협력하는 양해각서들을 체결하였습니다.
동 양해각서들은 3월 27일 양국 정상 (사우디 살만 국왕과 요르단 압둘라 2세 국왕)간 회담에 이어서 체결되었습니다.
KACARE 원장 (Hashim Yamani)와 JAEC 위원장 (Khaled Touqan)간 체결된 MOU에 따라, 양국은 전력과 담수 생산을 위해 요르단 내에 2기의 SMR 건설에 대한 타당성조사를 시행할 예정입니다.
한편, 요르단과 러시아는 요르단 중부 Az-Zarqa 지역에 1000MW 2기의 VVER 건설 및 운영을 위해 2015년 3월 정부간 협약 (IGA)를 체결하였는데 동 건설을 위한 타당성 조사는 수개월 내에 완료될 예정이라고 합니다.

Jordan and Saudi Arabia have signed agreements on cooperation in uranium exploration and carrying out a feasibility study into the construction of two small modular reactors (SMRs) in Jordan.
