[캐나다 SMR 동향] CNL invites input on SMR technology
 
지난 5월 16일자 메일 (하기 참조)로 공지한 바와 같이 2017년 4월말 CNL에서 온타리오 소재 Chalk River laboratories의 미래에 대한 장기전략을 발표하였습니다. 그 장기전략에는 2026년까지 데모 SMR 건설도 포함되어 있습니다.
 
이에 대한 후속 절차로 2017년 6월 1일 CNL에서 SMR에 대한 RFEOI (Request for expressions of Interest)를 발행하여 SMR 기술개발자, 예상 사용자, 기타 이해당사자들로부터 의견과 정보를 입력 받을 예정입니다. (제출 기한은 2017년 7월 31일)
 
CNL은 2026년까지 SMR기술의 상업적 가능성을 시현함으로써 캐나다가 SMR기술에 있어서 리더 역할을 담당하고, CNL이 SMR원형로 시험 및 과학/기술 지원에 있어서 세계적인 리더로 인정받는 것을 목표로 하고 있습니다. CNL의 장기전략에 따르면 CNL의 장기 비전은 다양한 원형로들이 건설되고 시험되는 SMR의 허브로 자리매김하는 것입니다.
 
CNL 관계자에 의하면 2017년 말에 최초의 데모 또는 원형로를 위한 부지선정 및 인허가절차에 착수할 계획이라고 합니다.

Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) yesterday launched a request for expressions of interest in small modular reactors (SMRs). The nuclear science and technology organisation aims to demonstrate the commercial viability of SMR technology by 2026.
