[미국 SMR 동향] NRC, SMR 건설을 위한 조기부지허가 신청 검토

미국 NRC는 Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA)가 SMR건설을 고려하고 있는 테네시주 Clinch River부지에 대한 Early Site Permit (조기부지허가) 신청을 검토하기로 했다고 2017년 1월 12일자 WNN의 단편 뉴스가 보도했습니다.

TVA는 2016년 5월에 동 신청서를 NRC에 제출하였는데 이는 NRC가 SMR관련하여 최초로 접수한 신청이었다고 합니다. ESP는 20년간 유효하며 원전 건설 부지로서의 적합성을 확인하는 절차이마 사용될 어느 특정한 기술을 적시하지는 않는다고 합니다.

The US Nuclear Regulatory Commission has accepted for review an Early Site Permit application for Clinch River, Tennessee, where the Tennessee Valley Authority is considering building small modular reactors.

TVA submitted the application - the NRC's first SMR-related application of any type - in May. An ESP is valid for 20 years and certifies the suitability of a site for the construction of a nuclear power plant, but does not specify the technology to be used.
