[캐나다 SMR 동향] Canadian siting studies for commercial IMSR
캐나다 Terrestrial Energy사는 Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) 보유 Chalk River 부지에 최초의 상용 IMSR (Integrated Molten Salt Reactor) 입지를 위한 타당성조사를 시작했습니다. 동 사는 SMR 상용화 지원하기 위해 CNL 내에 기술허브를 조성하겠다는 비전을 갖고 있습니다.
상기 타당성조사는 CNL에 의하여 지난 6월 2일 공고된 RFEOI와 병행하여 수행될 것이라고 합니다.
동 사는 미국법인인 TEUSA를 통해 미국 내에 INL 및 미시시피강 동편 부지 등을 포함하여 최초의 상용 플랜트를 위한 부지를 조사 중입니다. 동사는 미국 NRC에 금년 중 사전인허가 절차를 착수하여 2019년 말 경 인허가를 신청할 계획이라고 금년 1월에 발표한 바 있습니다.

Terrestrial Energy has begun a feasibility study for the siting of the first commercial Integral Molten Salt Reactor (IMSR) at Canadian Nuclear Laboratories' (CNL) Chalk River site, with a further vision of creating a technology hub at CNL to support the commercialisation of small modular reactors (SMR).
